December 2021: Boxster 986 2.5 Arctic Silver

I have purchased a 1997 Porsche Boxster 986 2.5 Arctic Silver Manual from Paul Lewis I had been looking for an early Boxster in great condition, with service history and in this specific colour/interior for quite a while.

Paul's car met all my criteria so I drove down from North Yorkshire to see it. The car was exactly as described, Paul then spent about an hour and a half explaining everything about the car and it's extensive history before going for a test drive. There is no doubt that Paul knows his Boxsters. He also had another 5 Boxsters on site to look at so I could see other colour combinations and specifications which was useful.

The buying process was straight forward - there is no hard sell - we agreed a price and before I had paid him he had transferred the vehicle ownership to me (I received an email from GOV. UK - Confirmation of new vehicle keeper).

He then arranged a reasonable price for delivery and the car was delivered as agreed. His delivery guy knew what he was doing and took great care of loading the car.

This was my first Porsche and I had serious doubts about buying the right car - I believe I received great advice and assistance from Paul and would happily recommend him if you are looking to buy a Boxster.

August 2021: Boxster 986 2.7 Silver Grey

I bought a beautiful 2001 2.7 Porsche Boxster 88,000 Seal Grey , in August 2021 from Paul. The car is immaculate and has been prepared to the very highest of standards. During the process from enquiry to meeting up and doing the test drive, through to purchase and delivery Paul did everything he could to keep me in the loop about progress with photographs and videos showing the work in progress, as i lived about 100 miles away from his workshop. Everything you read about Paul is true. He is first and foremost one of life's genuine good guys, and a bond of trust and mutual respect is formed right away. Paul is a man who clearly puts a lot of work into the vehicles he sells. He is a genuine Porsche enthusiast and has an encyclopaedic knowledge of these very special sports cars. Paul does not "sell" you his cars, they sell themselves because of his attention to all the details, his preparation of the cars and his robust advice about the dangers of buying cheaper cars with hidden problems that would inevitably cost thousands to rectify.

I cannot recommend Paul strongly enough. If you are looking for a 986 Boxster, you must keep looking to see if he is preparing any and give him a call.

May 29th 2021: Boxster 987 Basalt Black
I had been exchanging messages between Paul and myself about his Porsche 987 Boxster before I could view the car. He was always helpful and sent me some additional photos of the car and had a great knowledge of Porsche Boxsters.

When I eventually viewed the car I was pleasantly surprised how good the condition of the car was, the photos really didn’t do any justice to this very clean example of a black 987 Boxster. It was just what I was looking for.

Paul was great and went out of his way to explain about the car and how it operated. It was nice that to see that he was clearly a Porsche enthusiast.

I would definitely recommend Paul to anyone who is looking for a good quality used Porsche Boxster.

February 2021: Boxster 986 Seal Grey

I’d been looking for a Porsche for a few months, having watched a number of Paul’s eBay listings sell quickly and looking at the feedback from happy buyers, I knew that once the right car came along I wouldn’t have any concerns buying from Paul.

Well, that car came along, a Boxster 986 S, in February 2021 and buying from Paul didn’t disappoint! Following a lengthy call discussing the car in detail Paul sent me numerous pictures of all the key areas. There was no pressure to buy at any stage, Paul continued to prepare the car with a full service, new filters, belts etc. He gave the car a comprehensive deep clean, even removing the wheels and arch liners. He continued to send loads of pictures throughout the process, illustrating all the new parts being fitted and the various stages of the clean.

The whole transaction was completed remotely and when the time came to collect the vehicle, Paul couldn’t have been more accommodating. He talked me through the work completed and went on to demonstrate all the vehicle’s features before making sure I was confident to drive home.

I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Buying a car from Paul, he really knows his stuff, is very helpful and doesn’t place any pressure on you to buy - he doesn’t need to, his cars are honestly described and almost sell themselves!

January 2021: Boxster 987 Grey

Over the last few months, I finally decided that after all the years of wanting a Porsche, I would take the plunge!

Constant trawling over Ebay, Autotrader and Gumtree was enjoyable and time consuming, I am certainly no expert and reading the downfalls of ownership, IMS, RMS bore score I was shall we say a little worried!

I had been reviewing the cars Paul had for sale on a regular basis and then I saw he had a speed Yellow 986 for sale, just what I wanted.

From messaging Paul, I was down to his in 3 hours, Paul was really helpful and took his time in explaining about the car, what had been done to it and as to what was required with it along with explaining owning a Porsche etc. disappointingly though due to my disabilities, I was unable to get into it. He advised that I may be able to get into a 987 as it was slightly bigger and the steering wheel moved all ways and was happy to allow me to try the 987 he had for sale for size and at least I would then know as to whether a Porsche would be good for me. He also stated that he would be happy for me to call him for any help needed in my quest for a Porsche.

Once home through my clouded thoughts of disappointment it dawned on me, Paul knows what he is talking about, he is very helpful, his reviews are excellent, so why wasn't I buying the 987 he has!

Through a few messages the next day with Paul explaining what was required with the 987, we agreed on a price, I paid a deposit and he was happy for me to come back down to check it all out and go for a test drive, to be honest if I didn't trust him there would have been no way I would have a put a deposit on car I had only tried for size, so that gives a you an idea of what he is like.

I agreed to pick up later that week but embarrassingly my cheque hadn't cleared, I explained to Paul the position and he was happy to wait for me to collect a week later even if it did mean he had to change plans.

To be honest buying a car is a minefield let alone buying a Porsche, dodgy dealers, inaccurate descriptions and wasted journeys etc. etc.

You get none of this with Paul, if you want a Porsche from an honest, straightforward, knowledgeable, enthusiastic guy I say go and buy one from him. I have a great Porsche, I am happy and know I could contact Paul for any advice in the future.

January 2021 Silver 2.5 986:

I had been looking for a launch model Boxster 986 2.5 for a while before I happened upon an advert Paul had for a 1997 Arctic silver car with red leather interior.This was exactly the spec I had been searching for,however,with the current restrictions on travel I was unable to view the car.

Paul was extremely helpful in supplying detailed photographs,and based on an honest and in depth description of the vehicle,I made a bid and won the auction.

Transport was arranged and the car was delivered to Scotland a couple of days later. Paul’s description of the car was absolutely spot on. I was extremely pleased with its overall condition both internally and externally,plus all of the mechanical work that Paul had outlined prior to the sale was in order and backed up with a multitude of service history and invoices.

It’s been an absolute pleasure dealing with someone who is a real 986 enthusiast.

Paul takes his deep knowledge of 986 Boxters and couples it with a friendly,honest and transparent approach to sales.

I would highly recommend him if you’re on the look out for a good,fairly priced 986.

We recently brought a beautiful black 2001 Boxster from Paul. Paul was great throughout the whole process. Before meeting Paul our Porsche knowledge was extremely basic and Paul took us through the car in great detail, explaining common problems and generally explaining how things work. This was extremely helpful and right from the start we could see that the car was in good condition exactly as described.

You never know who is behind an Ebay advert these days but it was great meeting Paul and his no pressure car viewing made the whole process a pleasure. Paul is clearly very knowledgeable when it comes to Boxsters and he will be a great contact for help and advice in the future!

I have just purchased a stunning red 2003 2.7 Porsche Boxster from Paul.

On my initial visit I was considering Paul’s car and one other. He positively encouraged me to view the second car, even advising of what to look for when I went.

I really warmed to his non-pressurised way of selling and needless to say, I was soon on the phone to tell him I had decided that his Boxster was far superior to the other one.

I must say it was by far the best experience in buying a car that I have had. The car looked stunning and I couldn’t have been happier when I picked it up.

Paul is a man that loves his Boxsters and has great mechanical knowledge about them. From the start I felt at ease with what he told me about the car and feel sure that he will be able to help if I need any advice in the future.

I just purchased my wife a Porsche Boxster 986 from Paul. An absolute gentleman with an obvious passion for the Boxsters. Paul walked us through all the niggles we may encounter with a Boxster; none of which were apparent on the car we purchased from him. The preparation and work put into the one we bought from Paul is a credit to him and i would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone. The car felt and drove familiar, as if we’d owned it for years. It just feels right. It doesn’t feel like an almost two decade old vehicle.

July 2020: Speed Yellow 3.2S 986:

I was considering upgrading from my Boxster 2.5 to a 3.2S, I came across Paul as a respected and knowledgable member of a Boxster owners’ forum and became aware he had some very well-prepared, hand-picked, well-cared for cars available. The car I bought from Paul, an unusual 3.2 in Speed Yellow looked to be excellent value and very well presented. Now, buying a car under pandemic circumstances at a distance may not appear as easy as normal, however this was a breeze with Paul. He prepared a very thorough and detailed video inspection and numerous photographs for me, we had lengthy discussions which gave me total confidence to purchase my car, and on collection it was just as described.

Other things that gave me peace of mind was the reassurance that his cars are all checked by Porsche to make sure any remedial work is carried out prior to resale. Paul also goes to great lengths to clean hidden areas such as all wheel arches - this means he can see any issues that may be hidden behind years of grime and attend to them. He also looks for all the common failings and selects cars that do not suffer from these, like broken glove boxes and indicator stalks.

These cars are all ageing now, some have aged better than others and buying from Paul gives you the best opportunity to acquire one of the better kept cars. Thank you sir, a pleasure to buy from you, and I may well again!

July 2020:Lapis Blue 2.7 986:

It should be mentioned at the outset that I did not even know I wanted to buy a car, but then I spoke to my good friend Nick and then I met Paul.

Nick was looking at Boxters due to an unexpected squirrel incident which brought an end to his Cayman. He is very studious in his research and had waxed lyrical about Paul. Nick said he wont try and sell you anything, he's a lovely bloke and is just an enthusiast who loves all things Boxster.This made me think, it wouldn't hurt to meet him and have a look at whatever Boxsters he had at the time, at the very least i would get a lot more info and a test drive.

Paul had just had one arrive that morning, a 986 in Lapis Blue with grey leather interior. Beautiful. Immediately struck a rapport with Paul, he is anything but a used car salesman, he just loves Boxters, knows a lot about them and was more than happy to impart his knowledge to myself. He didn't even ask me if I wanted the car. I think he could tell after I test drove it!! When I went to collect it he gave me the option of myself undertaking the service under his close supervision. We/I changed the drive belt, oil, all the filters, cleaned the drains. Now I know how to do it it will save me at £500+ a year.

So basically within few days of meeting Paul I had bought a superb Boxster in excellent condition and made a new friend.

I cannot emphasise enough what an easy and enjoyable experience it was. Paul is the go to bloke if you are thinking about buying one of these wonderful cars in a very mellow and personable atmosphere. No pressure, just a good bloke.

May 2020: Speed Yellow 3.2 986:

I have been following Paul on eBay for about 9 months as was looking to buy a Porsche 986 Boxster.

Paul had a yellow 986 2002 plate for sale which I was interested in. Buying on eBay is not short of risk, so decided to get in contact with Paul. I am so glad I did, as I found Paul to be very knowledgeable about the 986 and also very honest. From that I decided to bid for the car and luckily was successful.

After many messages I went down to pick the car up. Paul just didn’t take payment, he explained the vital procedures on the maintaining and showed me around the car making sure I was satisfied.

Paul offered extra services so that I received the car in the best condition possible. Brakes pads and disks, oil change, plugs and various filter changes. I know I could ring Paul at anytime for advice in the future.

To conclude Paul is honest and fair and I could not recommend him highly enough.

April 2020: Guards Red 2.7 986:

The most important thing to me when buying a car is it's history and how it's presented for sale. This is why the car I bought from Paul appealed to me over any other car available at the time in the same price range. I emailed via Ebay initially and was met with a prompt and polite reply. We spoke the next day in depth about the car and cars in general! After another couple of chats and being sent videos and pictures of every aspect of the car we struck a deal and Paul had the car delivered to me. When it arrived it had been prepared to a very high standard, it was as described and it drives absolutely spot on. In fact it is so good that the only thing letting it down (some paintwork) is now being addressed to make the car 100%!!!

In December 2019 I sold a 2.5 Tiptronic that was purchased by a gentleman in Ireland unseen, he sent me this:

I was browsing various sites looking for Boxster's for sale as I was looking to purchase one having previously owned it. I saw one online and had a few questions for the seller who happened to be Paul. Paul answered all of my questions and although I did not buy that particular car he said he had another one which he was going to advertise for sale just as soon as he had finished some work needing to be done to it. Paul sent me pictures and a detailed list of what he was going to do it. Very quickly there was a strong bond of trust established and I agreed to purchase the car once all of the work had been carried out. Over the weeks Paul kept me updated with progress reports and pictures of the work and materials used on the car. This relationship was solely based on trust as I live in Ireland and Paul in England. I received the car today and could not be more pleased with it, but more importantly the standard of personal service from Paul was of the highest professional order, he even arranged transportation from England to my door. Things can go wrong in business transactions and being in business for over 40 years I have had a few mishaps, but I can honestly say that from start to finish this has been one of the smoothest, least stressful transactions I have ever been involved with and that is down to Paul's attention to detail in every aspect of this transaction. I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Paul should you wish to purchase a car form him -

I purchased my Porsche 986 Boxster from Paul after looking for a suitable car for several weeks and viewing a number of vehicles during my search. I had been toying with the idea of getting a Porsche for years, and was looking around for a car when I saw a few boxsters and noticed that prices were quite low at the moment. This led me to see a couple of Porsche Boxsters that Paul had for sale, a 2.7 and a 3.2 S.

I contacted Paul by email and then by phone, admitting to him I was like a lamb to the slaughter as I knew very little about the cars, but from the start he was extremely patient and informative.

I drove up to see the cars and Paul took me out in both, and let me drive them. He talked through the cars history and the work he had put into them, putting me under no time or any other pressure. I decided I would think on it, then told him Which one I wanted to buy.

For the following week Paul did a minor service on the car, changed filters and replaced a few pieces that required it, oil change etc. sending me photos along the way. He went over and above what could reasonably be expected from a seller, and was a fantastic person to deal with, I recommend him 100%"

Summer 2019: 986 2.7

Having never owned a Porsche and knowing little about them, I enquired about a stunning 2000 Boxster that Paul was advertising. From the first encounter he put me at ease and was happy to discuss the car and it’s history in detail. I decided to purchase the car without seeing it first, based on the confidence I had in Paul. He was super knowledgeable in all aspects of the car and I certainly wasn’t disappointed when I went to collect the car. It was better than the pictures on the advert suggested and Paul was happy to spend as much time with me as I needed, showing me how everything on the car worked and talking me through the paperwork.

The car has been amazing and exactly how Paul described it. I had an issue with the headlight switch (common fault ) and asked Paul’s advice. Not only was he happy to give me advice but even sourced and supplied the part for me.

Overall the whole experience from start to finish has been exemplary. I am in the motor trade myself with BMW , so I know what great service should be like. Nothing was too much trouble for Paul.

I’m a Porsche convert already and will certainly look to Paul to purchase my next one. I can’t thank him enough,

Summer 2019: 3.2 986

I had decided to buy a Porsche a few months ago and spent approximately 3 months trying to decide how much I wanted to spend and trying to figure all the things I had to look out for when buying a Boxster. In my search I came across an advert Paul had put on eBay and contacted him with a couple of questions. Paul came straight back to me and on hearing I was looking at not only his but a couple of others he was happy to other advice on what to look for. I went to look at the car after looking at another two and again Paul took plenty of time talking me through the car, the history what work had been done which helped me decide that it was the right one for me. The effort Paul then put into getting the car ready was fantastic and in such short time. The detailing he carried out on the car was second to none and extra costs to himself in decals he threw in. The car is fantastic, you would never know it was 19 years old. I would highly recommend going through Paul.

April 2022: Boxster 986 2.7 Seal Grey

Having owned 2 986's and just sold on a 2004 car which I didn't bond with. I started looking for a better specification and condition 986 as a 'forever' car.

I was aware of Paul's reputation from the various forums and he had just the car I was looking for so I made contact. From the first tentative questions right through to purchase and collection all I can say Paul is one of the most attentive, honest people I have met in the car world and clearly cares about the satisfaction of his customers.

I am now the proud owner of a high specification 986 which drives like a dream and is probably better than Paul described it - a credit to his honesty. He was genuinely interested in my impressions of his car as I have previous Boxster experience and he clearly derives great pleasure from the service he gives people. He is a genuine enthusiast.

I would recommend Paul to anyone looking for a Boxster for his knowledge, enthusiasm and integrity - you can approach him with 100% confidence and that is rare in today's world.

March 2022: Boxster 986 3.2

Having been keeping an eye on Paul's work, fantastic feedback, and growing reputation I reached out to him with my budget and what I was looking for. Paul came back immediately, and we started dialogue on a 2003 Boxster S he was potentially getting in. Paul kindly gave me first refusal once he confirmed he had the car. He then kept me up to date with all the remedial work that it required such as a major service, all new brakes, ignition switch and air conditioning renewal. There was no pressure and I enjoyed as a part of the process seeing the car being prepared ready for my visit to his workshop and test drive. Additionally, it was great to be able to share this with my wife adding to her confidence that I wasn't being reckless! Paul then walked me through all the work and following a drive in the car, I agreed to buy.

Paul is very easy to deal with, massively knowledgeable and helpful. He has seen plenty of these cars so very quickly can answer questions which just gives confidence on a near 20 year old purchase. I will be keeping in touch for sure and would highly recommend anybody considering reaching out to him. The car is superb, and is it's been a simple, straightforward, and honest arrangement. Feb 2022: Boxster 2.7 Lapis Blue

I always say that you should "speak as you find' . I purchased a Porsche Boxster through Paul - unseen! Only via pictures. The car had been stood for 12 months and had faults. Paul explained that the brake pipe and brakes all around were in need of attention, as you can imagine how hesitant I was, always wanting a Boxster but buying it unseen!

Paul explained how good the car was but had faults - it was a project. I found him very truthful and extremely helpful even to the point of helping me with advice moving forwards with the car. I wouldn't hesitate recommending him to the next buyer. You speak as you find!
